This page is the plain-English summary. It is the policy itself, written in language a person can actually read. If you'd prefer a longer formal version on company letterhead, write to support@astroguides.app and we'll send one.
What we collect
AstroGuide collects only what's needed to draw your chart and remember what you wrote in your moon journal:
- Birth data — date, time (optional), and place of birth.
- Display name — what to call you in the app.
- Journal entries — text you write yourself, on your own device.
- Account email — only if you choose to back up to the cloud.
- Technical data — anonymous crash logs and one-time installation ID, used to keep the app from crashing.
We do not collect contacts, location (beyond birth city), photos, microphone, calendar, browsing history, or anything from your other apps.
Why we collect it
Birth data and display name are required for the app's core function — drawing a personal chart. Journal entries exist so the journal works. Account email exists so cloud backup can find your data when you reinstall. Crash logs help us fix bugs we'd otherwise never see.
If a piece of data isn't necessary for the app to do its job, we don't ask for it.
Where it lives
By default, everything stays on your phone. Encrypted at rest using the operating system's keystore.
If you turn on cloud backup, your data is sent over HTTPS to our servers (hosted in the European Union), encrypted at rest, and tied only to your account. We can read it for the purpose of restoring it to your next device. We don't read it for any other purpose.
Third parties
We use three external services, listed here so you know exactly who sees what:
- OpenRouter — receives anonymous structured chart positions and aspects, returns prose. It does not receive your name, email, birth date, or any identifying information. The same prompt would produce the same prose for anyone with the same chart.
- Google Play Billing — handles subscription purchases. They receive a purchase token; we receive a confirmation. They never see your chart.
- Vercel Analytics — aggregates anonymous page-view counts for this website. No cookies, no personal data.
We have not, do not, and will not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- See everything we have about you (in-app: Settings → About → Export my data).
- Correct it.
- Delete it — see Account deletion.
- Withdraw consent for cloud backup — your data stays on your device.
If you live in a jurisdiction with stronger rights (GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, others), they apply.
Children
AstroGuide is not intended for use by anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If we discover we have, we delete it.
