Real charts. AI prose. That's the rule, and we mean both halves of it.
AstroGuide uses large language models to turn structured astrological data into readable prose. We want to tell you exactly what that means, and what it doesn't, so you can decide how much to trust the words you're reading.
What the AI does
The chart is calculated first, without AI. Swiss Ephemeris computes the positions of the planets, the houses, and the aspects. After that, a language model receives the structured result and writes the text in English, Russian, or Spanish. Its job is the prose layer:
- Write the daily, weekly, and monthly forecasts from your transits.
- Write the natal reading that describes your chart.
- Write the year-ahead reading and the interpretation of a tarot spread.
- Write the daily email, which is built from the same forecast text.
Guardrails and limits
- It does not calculate the chart. The positions and aspects are fixed before the model receives them.
- It does not predict certain future events. The instructions tell it to avoid predictions phrased as certainty.
- It is instructed not to give medical, mental-health, financial, or legal advice, and not to predict illness, legal outcomes, or financial gain or loss from astrology or tarot.
- High-stakes tarot questions are filtered before the model is called. If your question matches our keyword filter for medical, legal, financial, or crisis topics, the app shows a safety message instead of a reading. A keyword filter is not perfect.
- Account identifiers are not prompt content. Your account email, Apple sign-in data, purchase information, and journal entries are not part of the prompt.
- It is not a professional adviser. Generated text can be wrong and must not replace medical, mental-health, financial, or legal advice.
Models we use
We route requests through OpenRouter to specific models, set in our configuration:
- Claude Haiku 4.5 (anthropic/claude-haiku-4.5) — the primary model for most readings.
- Gemini 2.5 Flash (google/gemini-2.5-flash) — the fallback if the primary model is unavailable.
- Claude Sonnet 4.6 (anthropic/claude-sonnet-4.6) — used for longer readings, such as tarot spreads and the year-ahead reading.
If we change models, we will update this page.
Each request asks OpenRouter to use zero-data-retention endpoints and to deny provider data collection. OpenRouter applies these preferences only where the selected provider supports them.
What data it sees
Before processing begins: when you ask for a generated reading, AstroGuide sends the data below over HTTPS from its backend to OpenRouter and the model provider. This transfer happens before the generated text is returned. Before your first AI reading, the app asks you to confirm that you are 18 or older and to agree to this transfer. You can withdraw that consent at any time in Settings → Withdraw consent. If you do not request an AI feature, no AI request is made.
The prompt contains, depending on the feature:
- Your name, and your age calculated from your birth date.
- Your birth date, your birth time (if you gave one), and your birth place as the resolved place name.
- Your calculated planetary positions, aspects, and the transits for the period you ask about.
- The language and the type of reading (for example daily, weekly, monthly, natal, year-ahead, or tarot spread).
- For a tarot spread, the question you typed.
The prompt does not contain your account email, Apple sign-in data, purchase information, or journal entries. See the Privacy Policy for processors and retention.
When it gets it wrong
Language models occasionally write mistakes, contradict themselves, or produce awkward phrasing. If a reading seems wrong or inappropriate, tell us through the support form and describe what you saw. Treat generated text as reflection, not as a prediction.
We don't claim the prose is perfect. We claim it's honest about what it is.
The chart calculation does not use AI, and your journal stays on your device and is never sent to the model. Generated text is produced only when you request it and have given consent.
